The 30-credit Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree opens up a wide range of opportunities in public accounting firms, industrial companies, financial institutions, and government agencies. With four 11-week terms per academic year, the part-time evening program can be completed in as little as 15 months. An accelerated full-time option can be completed in 10 months. Our unique format allows you to blend online study with optional in-class sessions.

What Will You Study?

The MS in Accounting consists of three areas: foundation courses, which are completed at the undergraduate level; core courses; and elective courses. The 9-credit Forensic Accounting/Fraud Investigation concentration provides an important area of specialization for accountants looking to expand career opportunities in what has been called the fastest-growing area of accounting. Leveraging the unique expertise of the University's accounting and business law faculty, the program will provide advanced training for accountants in fraud investigation accounting, forensic accounting, and litigation support.

Admissions Requirements

Successful completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. An undergraduate degree in accounting is not required for admission, however, the MS in Accounting has eight undergraduate accounting foundation courses: Financial Report I, Managerial Accounting, Financial Reporting II, Financial Reporting III, Cost Accounting, Fundamental Concepts of Tax Structure, Auditing and Assurance Services, and Principles of Finance. If you need to satisfy any of the foundation courses, you may be able to begin your studies on a provisional basis while fulfilling any course requirements. The foundation courses can be completed at Western New England or any accredited school. The GMAT or GRE is required for admission. The minimum score will be based on your undergraduate GPA. How are Courses Offered?

Courses are offered through a flexible model that includes option in-class sessions as well as online via Kodiak, Western New England University's online learning management system. Through this online classroom you will be able to view lectures, complete and submit assignments, and participate in discussions.

Each course will consist of 11 class sessions, with as many as six sessions both online and campus-based*, while five will be offered completely online. You choose whether you will attend the classes that take place on campus, or whether you complete your studies completely online.

* International candidates will be required to attend courses offered with six on-ground class sessions in order to be in compliance with student visa requirements.
