The Sport Management major is also accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). It is one of only two sport management programs in the U.S. accredited by both COSMA and AACSB International. Since its establishment in 1996, Sport Management has become the largest program in the College of Business.

What Will You Study?
To prepare you for management careers, you will take a common core of business courses. Your sport management-specific courses may include such courses as Sport Facility Planning and Management, Sport Marketing, International Sport Management, or Business Law for Sport Management, combined with field trips to sport venues. With the use of elective courses, Sport Management majors can pursue a dual major in Marketing. Courses can help you explore the worlds of sports analytics, scouting and player development, event management or golf operations, intercollegiate athletics management, or you can minor in athletic coaching. Our 3+3 Law program can prepare you to work in arbitration or negotiation.
Our graduates work in all aspects of sport from events planning to facilities operation, sporting goods to media sales or coaching at the collegiate level. Western New England University alumni have been hired by the New York Yankees, ESPN, CBS Sports, Boston Red Sox, PGA Tour, Adidas, New Balance, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, NBC Sports, Boston Celtics, CBS Radio, New England Revolution, and the New Jersey Devils, among many major sport organizations.
Clubs & Organizations
Sport Management students may have interests in: Alpha Lambda Delta (First-year honor society), Alpha Kappa Psi (Professional business fraternity), Beta Gamma Sigma (Honor society), and the Sport Management Association. Many of our students also participate in varsity and intramural sports, special interest groups, and student government.
Our stellar faculty includes members with years of experience in the sport industry, including a certified MLB sport agent, a professor who formerly worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee and the NCAA, one who does sports arbitration, an expert in collegial and high school sports, and an expert in professional sports and sports facility and event management. Their mentorship and industry connections make them a valued resource for both students and our highly connected alumni.

Unique Learning Opportunities
Internships and Field Work
This major has a significant focus on experiential opportunities and students often have several internships in the field. They may complete a three-credit collegiate athletics course, which provides the opportunity to plan, organize, and lead various elements of sport-related programming which may include intercollegiate athletic teams, intramurals, recreation, and health and wellness. In the six-credit Advanced Field Experience, qualified students spend a semester-long, full-time intern positions within a sport organization. Recent sites include the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia 76ers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
