Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology educates students to develop an understanding of the complex questions surrounding humans and animal behavior as well as the methods and techniques used by psychologists to answer these questions.

• In the Psychology major students learn how psychologists study and treat this behavior. They apply what they learn in context of practicum, internship, or research opportunities. Students are encouraged to join professional organizations and may attend or present their research at regional and national conferences.

• Western New England University has partnered with the prestigious New England Center for Children to offer the Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, which prepares students to meet the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) requirements for taking the exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts.

• Through a combination of coursework and supervised practical and research experiences, the PhD program in Behavior Analysis program educates researchers and scientist-practitioners in the discovery, translation, and application of knowledge toward solving human behavior problems of societal importance (e.g., autism and related disabilities).
