World Class—The Center for International Sport Business at Western New England University
Globalization has transcended all aspects of business, including sport. Today more than ever, sport organizations are looking to foreign markets for new sources of revenue and legions of emerging fans. Established in 2007, the Center for International Sport Business (CISB) is a forum for the study of the business of sport, but with an international focus. The CISB organizes conferences and seminars around the business of sport and its impact on the global economy for students, scholars, industry professionals, and other interested stakeholders.

Assistant Professor Curt Hamakawa L’84
Director of the CISB
Curt Hamakawa joined the Western New England University faculty as assistant professor of sport management in 2006, where he teaches sport management, sport law, and international sport policy. Prior to joining Western New England University, Professor Hamakawa served the United States Olympic Committee for 16 years as associate general counsel (1990-1992), director of Athlete Services (1992-2000), and director of International Relations (2000-2006). From 1987 to 1990, Professor Hamakawa worked for the National Collegiate Athletic Association in its Compliance and Enforcement Department.
