Japanese Tea Ceremony

Tea ceremony, or Chado (The Way of Tea), is one of the Japanese traditional arts involving ritualistic preparation of tea. Influenced by Zen Buddhism philosophy, the core teaching of chado is to attain a spiritual state of selflessness and peacefulness through making and sharing one bowl of tea. In the mid-16th century, Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) perfected the procedure of making tea. Yoku Eguchi, a certified tea master of the Urasenke school, will give a lecture and demonstration of tea ceremony. Please join us to learn the history and philosophy of Japanese tea ceremony as well as to try out the taste of Japanese tea and sweets.

Alumni Bus Trip to New York City

Cost: $35. The bus will depart from the Kevin S. Delbridge Welcome center at 7:30 a.m. and will drop off passengers in the area of the Radio City Music Hall at about 11:00 a.m. The bus will depart from a predetermined location at 8:00 p.m. (usually near St. Patrick's Cathedral) and returns to the University around midnight.
