Robert B. Stein Jr.
With a BSBA in Accounting from Western New England, Robert (Bob) Stein Jr. ’79 has enjoyed a remarkably varied career and today serves as President and CEO of Kalibrate Technologies, a London Stock Exchange AIM listed company. His success stands as a stellar example for students of the value of foundational business skills in preparing graduates to advance to leadership roles in our global economy.
Bob’s journey began on campus, where he was active working at the Admissions Office, and serving as an Upper-class Advisor, a founding member of the Jaycees chapter, and member of TKE fraternity back when the University had Greek societies. During his studies, Bob met his wife, Elaine (Goff) ’81. The couple currently lives in Cleveland and has three grown children.
After graduation in 1979, Bob began his career as a CPA and audit supervisor at Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) in Springfield. He soon moved into retail and spent 18 years at Dairy Mart Convenience Stores Inc., a publicly traded Nasdaq company, where he held the post of Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. In these capacities, he successfully applied his leadership experience in retail operations, marketing, and finance. Bob then became a consultant to the retail and convenience store industries as CEO of RBS & Associates.
Stein joined the Kalibrate leadership team in October 2004, after three years as a founding member of Kalibrate’s Advisory Board. His efforts helped open the U.S. market for Kalibrate and put in place a strategy to grow throughout the world via direct sales efforts and acquisition. Under Bob’s leadership since 2011, Kalibrate is now a global provider of fuels pricing and retail network planning software, analytics, and consulting services.
