Department of Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical engineers apply engineering principles to solve problems in medicine. Millions of breakthroughs have yet to be made in this emerging discipline, and you can make some of them.

From your first day on campus, you are a student with full access to all of the equipment in our modern labs. Design work begins in the first year and culminates with your capstone Senior Design Project, where you may work for a sponsor like Engineering World Health or Shriners Hospitals for Children to develop solutions to clinical problems at home or abroad. You can also participate in a research project with nationally recognized faculty members working at the interface of engineering and medicine.
