SWE Conference Inspires Next Generation of Women Engineers
Western New England University recently hosted the three-day 2014 Region F Conference of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Nearly 350 professional and student women engineers participated in professional development workshops, networking event, keynote speakers, and a banquet. The conference is an opportunity for students to meet and build relationships with working professionals, and learn about important issues facing engineers today. “We had 13 companies participate in the career fair this year, and they were all looking to fill internships and full-time positions. It's a great opportunity for students to network with industry professionals and apply for those internships and jobs,” explained Dr. Julie Drzymalski, Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, who coordinated the conference along with a team of students.
This year's conference theme, "Inspiring Innovation through Imagination", was meant to inspire the entrepreneurial spirit that drives engineers, as evidenced in some of the workshops. Watch a video from the conference.
