Special Authorization for Access to Student Educational Records

Under the provisions of the Federal Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, students have the right to inspect and review all College records directly related to them. Exceptions are medical and psychiatric records and financial records of parents. Students' educational record, except as otherwise designated in the University Catalogue, will NOT normally be released without the students approval.

Western New England University recognizes that in many cases students and parents freely exchange information about educational progress. In order to facilitate that process, a special release form has been developed that allows College personnel to share certain information about student progress with parents. This form must be signed by the student and can then be returned either to the Office of First Year Students & Students in Transition or Student Administrative Services.
