Western New England Exempt and Non-Exempt Staff Holiday Schedule Fiscal Year 2016-2017

  • *Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, January 16 Offices Open
  • *Presidents’ Day Monday, February 20 Offices Open
  • Memorial Day Monday, May 29 Closed

*Veteran's Day (November 11, 2016), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16, 2017) and Presidents’ Day (February 20, 2017) are considered “floating holidays”; they may be taken on the designated date or at another time, as arranged with the supervisor. Floating holidays must be taken in the calendar year in which they occur.

** During the 2016-2017 academic year, the President has determined that the University will be closed for the Thanksgiving Recess on November 23 and 25, and for the Winter Recess December 26 -30.

The necessary activities of certain offices/departments may require them to remain open on holidays when the University is otherwise closed. When this occurs, persons working in these areas will be given their Holidays as arranged with their supervisors.

This Holiday Schedule does not apply to uniformed officers in the Department of Public Safety who work the “4 and 2”
schedule.

Western New England University Safety Committee

The mission of the Western New England University Safety Committee is to promote a safe and healthy learning and work environment, to engage employees to take an active interest in workplace safety and health, and to minimize accidents on University property.  The Safety Committee is charged with creating and sustaining employee interest and participation in having a safe and healthy environment.  Safety Committee members seek to hear your safety concerns and suggestions.

The mission of the Western New England University Wellness Committee is to establish and maintain a work-site culture that encourages social and environmental support for a healthy lifestyle. Our vision is to develop educational outreach activities that encourage faculty and staff well-being.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, as the University’s group health insurer, along with the Gaudreau Group, the University’s insurance adviser, will regularly attend meetings to offer advice through their collective Wellness program experience.
