PROFESSOR FREEMAN SPEAKS AT THE PIONEER VALLEY LABOR FILM FESTIVAL

Professor Freeman spoke at the Pioneer Valley Labor Film Festival, held at UMass and sponsored by the UMass Amherst Labor Center and the Pioneer Valley Jobs with Justice. The four films shown during the festival provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for organizing the unorganized and the need for broad-based alliances within and across diverse communities. The film A Days Work was presented with commentary by the film-maker, Dave DeSario, and followed by a presentation from Professor Freeman discussing the plight of temp workers and the dismal state of health and safety protections through the wrenching account of a young temp worker killed his first day on the job.
