Learners Inducted into Epsilon Iota Honor Society

Epsilon Iota, The Western New England University chapter of the Rho Chi Society, which is the national honor society for colleges and schools of pharmacy, held its inaugural induction ceremony on May 3, 2016. The mission of the Rho Chi Society is to “encourage and recognize high standards of conduct and character, and foster fellowship among its members.”

Dr. John (Jack) ReynoldsFormer president of Rho Chi and current Dean Dr. John (Jack) Reynolds, of the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University, delivered the keynote presentation. Thirty-three learners were inducted into the newly formed Chapter of the Rho Chi Society. Included were seven members of the Class of 2015, 12 members of the Class of 2016, and 14 members of the Class of 2017.

Clinical Assistant Professor, Dr. Marissa Wolff, coordinated the event and served as the master of ceremonies for the evening. The event was sponsored by Rite Aid Pharmacy and was represented by Pharmacy District Manager Scott DeCesare.

Western New England University’s College of Pharmacy prepares learners for their role of “Pharmacist as Educator.” The cross-disciplinary approach to teaching includes the theoretical and practical aspects of pharmacy, and also promotes the development of leadership, professionalism, advocacy, and a commitment to community service. Combined degrees are offered in collaboration with the College of Business through the PharmD/MBA and PharmD/MS in Organizational Leadership for students who see their future in leadership roles.
