University Presents Timely Information on Taking Charge of Your Health

SUNDAY, APRIL 15, 2018 - 9:38 AM Pharmacy and Health Sciences , All News

The University’s Healthy U community lecture series will present a talk entitled “Tick Tock: The Time is Now! Take Charge of Your Health!” on Wednesday, April 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room 300 of the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy on the University’s Springfield campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kam Capoccia will explore how small changes to your daily routine can have a positive impact on how you feel and lead to health improvements. With one in three Americans diagnosed with high blood pressure and predictions that one in three adults could have diabetes by 2050, the information is particularly timely. Capoccia will provide practical tips to help people make their health a priority, develop strategies to improve well-being, and empower individuals to become their own health advocate.

Capoccia serves as clinical professor of community care at Western New England University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and director of the Consultation and Wellness Center in Springfield, a partnership between the College and Big Y Foods. She helps people in the community achieve their health goals by assisting in the management of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking cessation.

The HealthyU lecture series draws on the expertise of Western New England University faculty to educate the public about important health-related topics. The series has included presentations on chemicals in our daily lives, opioid addiction and overdose prevention, and weight loss. For more information, visit wne.edu/healthyu.
