Men's Soccer to Host TCCC Championship Saturday; View Video from Team's Nov. 5 Semifinal Win

The Western New England College men's soccer team is headed to the championship game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament after defeating Salve Regina University 5-0 Wednesday, November 5 (pictured). The Golden Bears will host the conference championship game Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. against Nichols.
View video of forward Dale Totman scoring the Golden Bears’ third goal. The team, which is currently ranked number 12 in the nation with a 15-1-5 overall record, was powered in the semifinal by junior forward Jason Sabia, who scored five points with two goals and an assist against Salve Regina.
Since starting the season with a loss against SUNY New Platz, coach Erin Sullivan’s squad has been unbeaten in 20 consecutive contests.
Senior forward Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY) gave the Golden Bears an early 1-0 lead just 2:33 into the game with an assist from junior midfielder Justin Martins (Ludlow, MA) off a corner kick.
The Seahawks stayed in the match with some good defensive stops in trailing by only one at halftime. The Golden Bears broke the game open with two quick goals in the opening 2:20 of the second stanza.
Sabia tallied his first goal with an assist from Totman at the 46:13 mark, then Totman fired home a shot with an assist from Sabia 1:07 later. He added his second score with an assist from Martins on another corner kick in the 58th minute.
Sophomore forward John Parsons (Sunderland, MA) completed the scoring in the 70th minute on a breakaway with an assist from junior midfielder Tony Rosa (Ludlow, MA).
Junior goalkeeper Kyle Bak (Cumberland, RI) made three saves for his fourth shutout of the season while improving his record to 7-1-3. Western New England College had a 20-12 advantage in shots and 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
