Trustees John M. O'Brien ’74, Kenneth D. Cardwell ’63/G’66 Recognized by College for Their Service to the Board

Posted June 10, 2009

trusteesrecognized09gifThe Western New England College Board of Trustees recently recognized two of its members for their service to the Board. At the annual Trustees meeting held in June, President Anthony S. Caprio (pictured at right), honored outgoing Chairman John M. O'Brien III ’74 (left) for his six years of service as Chair, as well as retiring trustee Kenneth D. Cardwell ’63/G’66 (center), who has served on the Board since 1985.

O’Brien, the 2008 Alumnus of the Year, has seen the College through a myriad of changes, helping build the institution’s momentum during one of the most exciting eras in its history. He has served on the Board since 1992 in a variety of leadership positions. Formerly a partner of Coopers & Lybrand—which is now PriceWaterhouseCoopers—O’Brien is President of J.M. O’Brien & Company, P.C.

Cardwell, a former senior vice president of MassMutual who began his career there in 1964, is also a longtime supporter of the College. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 1988.
