Keeping in Touch: Alumni Social Networking Websites Help Classmates Reconnect Online
Posted August 29, 2009
It has never been easier to connect with fellow alumni, thanks to several new initiatives set into motion by the Office of Alumni Relations. Alumni can now post messages ranging from job opportunities to summer house rentals to reunion announcements on our new Alumni2Alumni online forum. This is the perfect place to for you to connect with old friends and extend professional opportunities to our more than 40,000 alumni.
The Alumni Association also maintains a presence on Facebook and LinkedIn. The official Western New England College Alumni group on both sites have more than 1,000 members each. The alumni Facebook site is a hub for all Alumni Association events and activities, and LinkedIn site is fertile ground for job seekers because of its capacity to exponentially expand their networks in a short amount of time.
Alumni2Alumni, the newest alumni networking website, also provides a great opportunity for alumni in the military to build an online communications network.
“We developed Alumni2Alumni in response to alumni requests,” notes Kathy Pappas, director of alumni relations. “Our alumni want a way to communicate with each other in a secure environment. Alumni2Alumni is one of several ways for alumni to stay connected online.”
And don’t forget about the Alumni Website, which has all of the photo albums and slide shows from past reunions and coverage of other events. Reconnecting with you alma mater and your classmates is just a click away.
