New York, New Jersey Alumni Receptions a Big Hit
Posted November 13, 2009
At separate, well-attended receptions on November 11 and 12, alumni and friends in the New York and New Jersey area were offered the opportunity to network, meet with deans and administrators, and hear the latest news about the College from President Anthony S. Caprio. They also enjoyed a multimedia presentation on recent developments on campus.
President Caprio updated attendees on what has been happening at the College since the 2008 conclusion of the Transformations comprehensive campaign, which raised $23 million. View the photo album/slide shows of the New York reception and the New Jersey reception.
“In September, I had the pleasure of joining the Western New England College community at the ribbon cutting for our beautiful new student residence, Southwood Hall,” said President Caprio. “The same day we celebrated the groundbreaking for our impressive new academic building, which will house our programs in pharmacy, biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology…The collective enthusiasm for these building projects and for the bright future of this College is remarkable. Once more, we are at an important time in our history.”
Pictured at the New York City reception, which was hosted by Darlene Orlov, president of Orlov Art, are (L-R) Bruce Tandy ’88, Geoffrey Skolnick (Orlov’s husband), and President Caprio. Speaking at the event, attended by 45 alumni and friends gathered at Orlov’s gallery, were President Caprio, Orlov, School of Pharmacy Dean Evan T. Robinson, and School of Law Dean Art R. Gaudio. Also attending was School of Law Development Manager JoAnne O’Neil.
The New Jersey reception, hosted by Marc Rosenberg ’80/G’82, took place at Pazzo Pazzo Restaurant in Morristown, N.J. Speaking to 27 alumni and friends were President Caprio, Rosenberg, Robinson, and School of Law Alumni Coordinator Carol Thompson ’09. Also attending both events was Vice President for Advancement Beverly J. Dwight and Kathy Pappas ’98, Director of Alumni Relations.
The atmosphere at both receptions was festive and vibrant as those gathered were brought up-to-date on not only campus projects, but also developments at the School of Law and School of Pharmacy, the latter of which will move into the new academic building in the summer of 2010. “Hearing about the College’s growth struck a deep chord of pride among alumni,” said Pappas.
