Nominations Sought for Alumni Association Board of Directors and Alumni Awards

alumassoclogo10gifThe Alumni Association is seeking nominations to fill vacancies on its Board of Directors. The terms begin July 1, 2010. Offices up for election are Vice President, Alumni Outreach Committee Chair, Volunteer Management Committee Chair, and five Member-at-Large positions.

Nominations are also being sought for Alumni Awards, including 2009 Alumnus of the Year and the Alumni Association Service Awards. You may email nominations to alumwnec@wne.edu. For Board positions please include a recent resume of the nominee, letter of intent, and a list of his or her volunteer activities and other accomplishments. You may also nominate yourself. Vice President

This is a three-year, non-renewable term. The Vice President must have served as either Secretary, Member-at-Large, a Committee Chair of the Alumni Association, or as a Chapter Chair, so as to have an overview of the mission and the goals of the Association. In addition to assisting the President in providing leadership for the Alumni Association, the Vice President provides the guidance required to accomplish the objectives of developing, promoting, and managing the regional area Alumni events. At the completion of this term, the Vice President will assume leadership of the Board for three years.

Alumni Outreach Committee Chair

This is a two-year position, renewable for up to two consecutive terms. The Alumni Outreach Committee Chair must have served on a team of the Alumni Outreach Committee in order to have an overview of the Committee’s responsibilities and operating procedures. The Alumni Outreach Committee Chair recruits team members, appoints the vice chair of the committee, coordinates the alumni activities calendar, helps to plan and execute all social events and programs sponsored by the Alumni Association, including, but not limited to Homecoming, the Annual Alumni Golf Tournament, class events/reunions, student events and programs, and young alumni events. Volunteer Management Committee Chair This is a two-year position, renewable for up to two consecutive terms. The Volunteer Management Committee Chair must have served on a team of the Volunteer Management Committee in order to have an overview of the Committee’s responsibilities and operating procedures. The Volunteer Management Committee Chair recruits team members, sets a meeting schedule, and appoints a vice chair from team leaders to serve a one-year term. The Chair also administers all awards given by the Alumni Association, including Alumnus/a of the Year, Silver Letter Awards, Years of Service Awards, Skookum Awards, and any other special accolades. In addition, the Chair oversees the Nominating Team and the Constitution and Bylaws Team.

Volunteer Management Committee Chair

Member-at-Large (5)

This is a one-year position, renewable up to two consecutive terms. Our five members-at-large work on one or more Alumni Association projects. A representative from each of the following is sought: School of Business, School of Engineering, School of Arts and Sciences, Off-Campus Programs, and Graduate Studies and Adult Learning.

A ballot with a slate of candidates will be submitted to all alumni via both the Spring issue of Alumni Outlook and on the Alumni Website. The results will be presented at Homecoming 2011.

• A statement of why you think this person is deserving of the Alumnus/a of the Year Award

2009 Alumni Association Service Awards

Service Awards are given to individuals who have donated their time and talents to the Alumni Association in their respective committees, teams, or programs. Awards are presented for service in the following areas:

• Association Board of Directors

• Volunteer Management Committee (Awards, Constitution and Bylaws, Nominating, and Skookum Award Teams)

• Alumni Outreach Committee (Homecoming, Alumni Golf Tournament, and Student/Alumni Teams)

• Special Projects

• Outstanding Service (general)

• Faculty/Staff
