Annual Golf Outing Raises Almost $10,000 for the Mark A. Coffey Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Posted March 30, 2011

coffey11gifThe 13th hole at East Mountain Country Club in Westfield, MA, was a lucky one for Chris Coffey, the nephew of Alumni Association President Mike Coffey G’79: he shot a hole-in-one, earning him Red Sox tickets.

This feat of skill (and some luck?) took place April 29 at the Annual Mark Coffey Memorial Golf Outing, an event that raised almost $10,000 for the Mark A. Coffey Endowed Memorial Scholarship. The winning foursome consisted of Jim Tinker, Jeff Puffer, Dave Ference, and Dan Burack. The winning mixed foursome was Bo Sullivan, Bill Parks, Mike McCabe, and Mary Regan. Mark Coffey, who died in 2002, was Mike Coffey’s brother. He served as chair of the Department of Accounting and as a professor of accounting. Also known as “Skip,” he taught at the Western New England for 28 years.
