Rabbi Gurland Celebrates Retirement After 31 Years of Dedication

Western New England University hosted a retirement reception in honor of Rabbi Jerome Gurland on December 3. Rabbi Gurland served Western New England for 31 years, teaching and tending to spiritual life here on campus. He also has played a significant role in the broader community and is a recipient of numerous honors including a Pynchon Award. The reception provided the campus and the community an opportunity to express their thanks for all that he has done and featured campus, civic, and religious leaders honoring Rabbi Gurland’s legacy.

Located on an attractive 215-acre suburban campus in Springfield, Massachusetts, Western New England University serves 3,700 students, including 2,550 full-time undergraduate students.
