Western New England University, Holyoke Community College Announce New Agreement
Posted December 14, 2012

Students from Holyoke Community College will soon find it easier to complete a bachelor’s degree online at Western New England University, thanks to a new agreement between the two institutions. The agreement is designed to provide students graduating from Holyoke Community College with an associate’s degree in business administration a seamless transition into Western New England’s Bachelor of Business Administration online program.
Western New England University President Anthony S. Caprio and Holyoke Community College President William F. Messner celebrated the new agreement with a signing ceremony on December 10.
"Our students lead busy lives. Many of them have jobs and families and prefer online programs because they offer greater convenience and flexibility," said Messner. "Western New England University is known for the quality of its business programs. We have a very robust business program ourselves at Holyoke Community College, so the two together make sense."
“From its very beginning in 1919, Western New England University has had a history of providing professional education to working adults,” says Caprio. “This particular degree program builds on that proud tradition in a thoroughly modern way, with the ability to study online providing today’s students with greater flexibility in pursuing a bachelor’s degree.”
Holyoke Community College has articulation agreements for transfer with about 30 private and public colleges and universities. Such agreements spell out exactly what courses will be accepted for credit at the four-year schools. Under the terms of the agreement, students will be able to transfer up to 70 credits and take advantage of joint academic advising.
Western New England launched the online Bachelor of Business Administration program in 2002. Students transferring into the program with an eligible associate’s degree are able to earn a bachelor’s degree in as little as two years of year-round part-time study.
“The program has proven to be an attractive option for working professionals seeking to launch or advance their careers,” says Matthew J. Fox, Director of Recruitment and Marketing for Adult Learners. “The online format and accelerated eight- and six-week sessions help students to accomplish their goals while juggling the demands of school, work and life.”
The online BBA degree is offered by Western New England University’s College of Business, which is accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This accreditation puts Western New England among the top 5% of business schools worldwide.
