Posted February 27, 2013
The Western New England University Art Gallery presents “Illusions of Place,” an exhibit by photographer Pamela Cobb from March 3 to April 11. The Gallery, located in St. Germain Campus Center, will host an opening reception Sunday, March 3 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Cobb will offer insight into her work during a special gallery talk on Thursday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. General Art Gallery hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All events are free and open to the public.
A resident of Leeds, Cobb is a nationally exhibited photographer. “My focus as a photographer is to examine the perception and experience of landscape and to portray the mood or spirit evoked by light and scale,” says Cobb. Her photographs represent an appreciation for both the dramatic scale and spaces of the west and the intimate spaces of the east as well as a corresponding vision of these two very different landscapes. Cobb’s photographs are in a collection at the San Francisco MoMA Artists’ Gallery and have been purchased for the Hyatt Pritzker Collection as well as numerous private collections. She has been awarded residencies by the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming and the Blue Mountain Center in New York.
