University to Offer Veterans Employment Summit

Posted May 20, 2013

Western New England University will host a “Working Together Summit: A Veterans Employment Alliance” on Friday, June 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy on campus. This event will bring together veterans seeking employment and employers interested in hiring veterans. All veterans and employers are invited to attend this free event.

The Working Together Summit will inform participants on the many resources available to employers and veterans to hire, retain, and promote veterans. Workshops will address online searches, effective networking, resume preparation, and job interviewing skills. Speakers will also discuss hot jobs, career paths, and veteran education funding. The luncheon speakers will address employer tax credits, veteran benefits, and attack the myths that often create recruitment and retention barriers in hiring veterans, including PTSD and military-civilian reintegration.

This event is sponsored by the Springfield Department of Veterans’ Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, and employment professionals from the greater Springfield area. This is not a job fair. To register, visit
