Entrepreneurship Club Holds Competition

Posted March 15, 2014

The annual Entrepreneurship Club Elevator Pitch competition was held this week in the Bear’s Den. Each of the eight student participants were given 90 seconds to convince a panel of four judges that their business plan for a new product was worth funding. Junior Alex Constantine took first place, junior Juraj Urbancik won second place (pictured below), and freshman, Gunther Cox came in third. “I was a little worried that my accent would hurt my chances, but it didn’t and I’m really thrilled to win second place,” said junior Juraj Urbancik, an international student from the Czech Republic.

The winners received cash prizes and more importantly, an opportunity to compete at the Grinspoon Entrepreneurship Awards Banquet on April 30. The keynote speaker and one of the judges was Robin Lamothe, owner of the Steaming Tender Restaurant in Palmer, MA. Lamothe also supplied the audience with samples of her famous Whiskey Bread Pudding and Buffalo Mac and Cheese.
