<img align='left' src='http://www.wne.edu/images/generic_news_cupola_icon.jpg' border='0' width='48' height='54' />Paul Smith '13 (far left) and Jay Thall '13 (far right) present a check to Project Coach executive director Kayleigh Colombero G'12 and coaches Joseph Wray and Loeb Rosario.Last year, Western New England University students had the opportunity to travel to the Olympics as part of the Center for International Sport Business' Seminar Abroad program. On May 8, six students that participated in the London Olympics trip hosted Project Coach at its annual spring banquet. Project Coach is a Smith College based program that teaches high school students from Springfield's north end to be sport-life coaches for hundreds of elementary school children in the city's urban center. The event was an extension of the collaboration between Project Coach and the University's Sport Management Association, which has held fundraisers benefiting Project Coach in each of the past four years. Sport Management Association vice president Paul Smith and treasurer Jay Thall presented Project Coach Executive Director Kayleigh Colombero G'12 and Project Coach student coaches with a check for $305. Men's Assistant Basketball Coach Malik Champlain '07 gave the keynote address to over a hundred people in attendance. Champlain delivered an inspiring message based on his own life experiences. The banquet was a community service project of the London Olympics students, which was made possible by a grant from the University's Alumni Association. Student participants included Heather Mears, Jennifer Mears, RJ Suhre, Nick Varney, Dennis Rinaldi, and Jason Titelbaum.
