Community Care Consultation

Our Work In Practice

Western New England University is a committed partner in community care outreach and offers the unique expertise of our faculty in service to health and wellness education. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences provides one-on-one healthcare and wellness consultation to patients via two faculty-run care facilities: the on-campus Community Health Care Center and the Western New England University and Big Y Foods, Inc. Consultation and Wellness Center located at the Big Y Foods store on Cooley St. in Springfield, MA. These services are offered by appointment.

Community Patient Care Center

On-Campus Community Health Care Center

The on-campus Community Patient Care Center provides individualized clinical pharmacy services to Western New England University employees and greater Springfield area patients (with physician referrals). These services include both Weight Management and Medication Therapy Management (MTM). The clinic is located in the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy at Western New England University under the direction of Dr. Melissa Mattison, clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice.

Bigy Foods, INC.

Western New England University and Big Y Foods, Inc. Consultation and Wellness Center

Located within the Big Y Foods store on Cooley St. in Springfield, the Center offers individualized consultation and disease state management services for patients with diabetes or related conditions. This may include blood glucose evaluations and meter training, development of a patient plan, nutrition workshops, and personalized education sessions. A referral from a physician or other healthcare professional is encouraged but not required.
