Before coming to Western New England University, Dr. Carlson spent most of her career in clinical practice in the setting of Homecare and Hospice. She also worked as a part-time Professor at Quinnipiac University where she developed fieldwork placements and a Service Learning class which focused on End of Life Care.
Dr. Carlson’s primary teaching interests include community based practice, population health, aging in place, OT in primary care practice and end of life care using transformational and experiential learning methods. In her free time Dr. Carlson enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, traveling, spending time with family and friends, volunteering with elderly and youth in her community, gardening and raising chickens.
