College of Pharmacy

The Doctor of Pharmacy/MBA program offers a powerful combination of pharmacy and business for those interested in the practice of pharmacy in a business or managerial environment. The program is offered collaboratively between Western New England University’s College of Pharmacy and College of Business. Graduates of the combined degree program will receive two separate degrees, one in business and one in pharmacy. Pursuing both degrees will allow students to take advantage of cross credits, where 6 credits of business coursework can be applied toward the PharmD degree, and, 9 credits of pharmacy coursework can be applied toward the MBA degree.

Candidates for the PharmD/MBA program apply for admission after the completion of their first semester of the PharmD program at Western New England University. Admissions for the MBA program are rolling. You are required to submit an official copy of your transcript, GMAT scores (unless waivered), two recommendations, two assigned essays, and a résumé or curriculum vitae along with your application. If you have not satisfied the MBA prerequisites, you will need to do so prior to enrolling in the MBA program. The prerequisites include the following courses: Accounting, Finance, and Statistics.

Curriculum

The Pharmacy curriculum entails a competency-based framework, using integrated content and teaching, problem-based approaches when appropriate, integrated technology, and experiential exposure threaded throughout. The curriculum is designed to incrementally develop strong scientific foundations (in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, social and administrative, and clinical sciences) and professional skills. The MBA curriculum offers courses that develop skills in decision-making and problem solving, leadership and management, environmental analysis, ethics and social responsibility, quantitative analysis, and technology awareness.
