WNEU CoP strives to build residency programs that prepare and inspire advanced pharmacy practitioners by instilling the values of lifelong learning, service, and leadership in our graduates. Engendering these qualities will be vital to improve patient outcomes in the practice models of today and the future.
Residency Advisory Committee
Members of the Committee have an integral role in the creation and development of residency programs at Western New England University College of Pharmacy (WNE CoP). Members of the committee assure accreditation standards are met or exceeded. In working with Residency Program Director, the Committee provides support for research projects, evaluates learning experiences, recruits and selects highly qualified applicants, and maintains relations between the residency practice sites and the College of Pharmacy.
The Committee also provides structured educational opportunities across the four professional years to learners at WNE CoP. “Foundations", presented to the PY1 class, provides a general overview of postgraduate opportunities and resources for additional information on residencies. “Essentials” is aimed at PY2 learners. It details current statistics, common metrics used by programs to evaluate residents, and assessment elements required from references. The PY3 session, “Practical Considerations", focuses on residency showcases, the match process, and criteria to select potential residency programs. “Mock Interviews” allow PY4 learners the opportunity to test their interview readiness and receive formative feedback as a final preparation step before applying for residencies. The RAC also maintains an internal website for residency materials and resources for interested learners.
Residents must possess a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from a school or college accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Residents must hold or be eligible for pharmacy licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Each resident must be licensed early in the residency as determined by each program.
