Accelerated Summer Courses in China
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, University-sponsored faculty-led study abroad programs are on hold. We look forward to the return of a robust travel program schedule at WNE.
Discover a unique global educational and cultural experience!
All Western New England Students are eligible to participate! Spend four weeks studying at the Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST) in beautiful Shandong Province, China. You’ll immerse yourself in the local culture, including learning to speak Mandarin Chinese and visit various attractions. Complete 2 to 6 credits, plus earn LBC credit.
New this year, SDUST is providing Western New England with scholarships for 20 students. These scholarships cover tuition for SDUST courses, your room, and a $300 USD stipend. All Western New England University students qualify.
Fundamental Chinese Language (2 credits)
ME 202: Statics (3 credits)
CEE 361 Engineering Fluid Mechanics* (3 credits)
EE 205: Electrical Engineering I (4 credits)
*Class is pending on enrollment demand.
**Credits are offered by SDUST and may be transferrable to Western New England University.

How much will this trip cost?
$2,500 (costs include airfare, visa, tuition**, shared dorm room on SDUST campus, and administrative costs. Travel dates and costs are subject to change.)
What will I get to see in China?
There will be an optional Beijing excursion trip to see the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square.
How can I participate?
Students must be in good academic standing to participate in study abroad opportunities. Students participating in year-long or semester-long study abroad programs must satisfy the specific grade point average required by the foreign university they will be attending.
