Accounting major Dimitrios Tartsinis says that Western New England University has given him more ways to get involved than he ever imagined, and he has taken advantage of every opportunity. He started off on the Wrestling Team, which lead to success both on the mat and off. In his third year he joined the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where he is a team representative to a larger group of student athletes who plan and implement initiatives which demonstrate excellence in the classroom, the field of play and in the community. His academic success, GPA of 3.53, and commitment to his sport earned Dimitrios membership in the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society for student athletes.
Beyond athletics, Dimitrios has dedicated much of his time to the Class of 2020 Council, and was recently elected Vice President. In this role he will continue to collaborate with other council members to plan senior year events that unite the class and create lasting memories leading up to graduation. Further connecting him to the campus community, Dimitrios works in Campus Events and joined the Residence Life Staff as a Resident Advisor.
Dimitrios took what he calls a “trip of a lifetime” to South Africa with our Study Abroad Program. Being from Colchester, CT, Dimitrios was able to experience an entirely new culture and see how drastically different life is on the other side of the world from what he is used to.
Knowing his college education wouldn’t be complete without some real world experience, and Dimitrios secured an internship this past summer with Wolf & Company, PC, in Boston. As a tax accounting intern he worked on tax returns for charitable foundations, nonprofit organizations, and nontaxable entities.
Dimitrios will complete his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in December, and will then pursue his Master of Science in Accounting here at our College of Business.
