Michael Spagnolo

Accounting and Finance

Michael Spagnolo is a dual Accounting and Finance major with SAP certification. The Pepperell, MA native’s accomplishments include being a Dean’s List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society. He has held many leadership positions on campus, including President of the 2018 Class Council, Resident Advisor, Junior Representative for the 2017 Class Council, and First Year Seminar Assistant.

It was Michael’s experience as an Orientation Group Leader, however, that inspired his most growth as a leader because he learned so much about what it’s like to collaborate and work as a team. Being an OGL tested him as a student leader on a whole new level compared with other leadership roles he has held in the past. Michael wrote in his application, “I discovered new things about myself every single day.” He and his fellow OGL’s had high expectations of one another and relied on the full participation of each individual to create successful and memorable Summer Orientations for the incoming freshman.

Michael also has extensive volunteer experience, including co-chairing WNE Walks, being a Team Captain for the Relay for Life Cancer Walk, and volunteering for the Friends of the Homeless organization in Springfield. His passion for volunteering began in high school, when he performed community service in central and eastern Massachusetts, and then traveled to New Orleans with fellow students, where they packaged food for those in need and assisted the elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged by revamping and rebuilding their homes, which were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Michael is proud to hail from a large Italian family where they “love to cook, sing, and be loud,” he writes. Some of his hobbies include playing soccer basketball, and tennis, along with outdoors activities like hiking and camping. He is also obsessed with the TV show The Office, and has actually been to Steve Carrell’s Penny Candy store in Marshfield, MA.

After college, Michael plans to work for a public accounting firm and complete his master’s degree in accounting. Next summer he will have an internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston. After completing his internship he will continue as an Assurance Associate with PWC.
