Management & Leadership
Harwinton, CT, native Sarah O’Hazo has made it her mission to contribute to whatever community she resides in. She has certainly done that on our campus as the Secretary of Student Senate for two year. She is currently Vice President, and was able to create initiatives she is proud of. She not only started the Kindness Project, but she was also the Chairperson of the first ever Dancing with the GBears event. Sarah truly enjoys helping others, especially first year students, as a Peer Advisor, First Year Seminar Assistant, and an Orientation Group Leader.
Sarah has taken advantage of a variety of opportunities at WNE to travel both domestically and internationally. She went to New Orleans to volunteer for Alternative Spring Break this past year, and as a freshman, she participated in the London Study Abroad program. She says that was one of the best opportunities because it helped her find her independence and grow both personally and culturally. She even found time in between her international studies to adventure to Ireland, Greece, and France experiencing the unique foods and lifestyles of these countries.
This past summer Sarah worked as a Category Management Intern at C&S Wholesale Grocers in the Dairy Department. Sarah says it was an amazing experience, and that she learned so much. She now has more knowledge about dairy products than she could’ve ever guessed. During the school year she will continue in her position as her busy schedule allows.
Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, especially her dog Tucker, and her friends. In her free time you can catch her practicing yoga or going on a hike.
After graduation Sarah would like to use her Management and Leadership major and minors in History and Enterprise Resource Planning to work in business analytics and data analysis. Ultimately, she would like to obtain her Master’s degree and move to an administrative role in higher education.
