Spring 2018 Grant Recipients
In spring of 2018, the Alumni Association Grants Committee awarded 14 grants totaling $19,362.00. Congratulations to the recipients:
This grant supports programs delivered by the Alcohol and Other Drug Advisory Committee designed to give students the information, resources, and tools to make informed and health decisions regarding alcohol.
ASME E-fest Robot Football
This grant offers students hands-on engineering experiences that are not received in the classroom, while enforcing teamwork and project management skills. This grant will help members to attend ASME E-Fest at Penn State University.
Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting
This grant allows undergraduate students interested in careers in biomedical engineering to attend the Annual BMES Meeting, accessing learning and networking opportunities.
Center for International Sport Business Programming
This grant funds a speaker series and travel courses in conjunction with the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cups. The speaker programs bring prominent and distinguished personalities from the world of sport business to campus.
Class Council Training
This grant supports leadership development and training for members of WNE’s Class Councils.
Golden Bear Racing
This grant supports 25+ students on the Golden Bear Racing - SAE Baja Team to attend and compete in the 2018 International Baja SAE Engineering Design Competition in Mechanicsville, MD.
International Student and Scholar Services Commencement Dinner
This grant supports a Commencement Dinner for all international students, many of whom are not able to attend the general Commencement activities. This provides an opportunity for this growing population of students to be recognized for their achievements, and to say goodbye to faculty, staff, and fellow students.
Mortar Board National Honor Society
Mortar Board is a national honor society for college seniors. This grant will raise awareness and help to promote scholarship, leadership, and service.
Integrative Biology Research and Conference
his grant enables students to conduct original research and present their findings at the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology Annual Meeting.
Residence Life BEAR Olympics
This grant will support the BEAR Olympics held in September each year as part of the welcoming activities. The event allows first-year students to show their pride and to build their connection with Western New England University.
Rising Business Professionals Learning Interest Community
This grant will help support the "Rising Business Professionals Learning Interest Community” for incoming freshmen students.
Stageless Players Fall Production
This grant will support enhancements to stage lighting and sound equipment for Stageless Players, an ensemble dedicated to the expression and performance of the theatrical arts.
This grant supports Success First, a year-long program geared toward first generation college students, encouraging mentor connections and providing access to workshops and other development opportunities.
Sustainable Energy Research Lab
This grant helps fund supplies and conference participation for undergraduate students conducting research in sustainable energy.
