Department of Psychology and Neuroscience

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience educates students to develop an understanding of the complex questions surrounding human and animal behavior as well as the methods and techniques used by psychologists to answer these questions. The department offers BA or BS programs in Psychology for undergraduates.

Western New England University has partnered with the prestigious New England Center for Children to offer the Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, which prepares students to meet the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) requirements for taking the exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts. View our excellent pass rate

Through a combination of coursework and supervised practical and research experiences, the PhD program in Behavior Analysis program educates researchers and scientist-practitioners in the discovery, translation, and application of knowledge toward solving human behavior problems of societal importance (e.g., autism and related disabilities).

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience also houses one of the most research-intensive programs at the College of Arts and Sciences. In intentionally small classes, our students gain hands-on experience in the Neuroscience laboratory suite where they study the functions of the brain and nervous systems. With an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, students may pursue careers in the health sciences, clinical and research laboratories in various areas of science, or may choose to represent the scientific world in mainstream writing and media.
