My background is in Counseling and Art Therapy. I enjoy making art in my spare time as well as creating with my clients. My background has much variety. I have experience teaching at a Montessori school for several years with children between the ages of 4-7, working as a Clinician with latency-aged children at a residential program, working with young and older adults, and working as a Residence Life staff on college campuses. I have great experience assisting individuals with life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD symptoms, relationships, and self-exploration/self-esteem struggles. I enjoy helping and assisting the minority population/people of color manage the struggles that are being faced today.
My approach entails being empathetic in my listening skills and creating a safe and comfortable environment to talk. I will often give a different perspective to a solution and encourage growth, and to “lean” into the uncomfortableness that can come with counseling, as this makes way for great improvement in oneself. I tend to think outside the box and encourage creativity in thinking, as well as will be of great support as the individual builds up their confidence and is able to grow and develop. I will often challenge my clients to be their best selves, whatever that may look or feel like to them.
