I-Corps at UMass Amherst provides training and experience to support students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and staff teams aiming to transfer technology discoveries into products and services that meet the needs of customers and users. Participants in the program are expected to complete the training and to conduct at least 30 customer discovery interviews.

Valley Venture Mentors is a nonprofit dedicated to achieving transformational growth for startups and changing the face of the economy in Western Massachusetts. We do that by providing expertise and funding through our mentorship and accelerator programs.

Based on the startup’s needs, the self-paced program will equip entrepreneurs with a structured program that will either define or refine their business model. Mentees meet one-on-one (virtually or in person) with an experienced mentor for at least an hour for a 6 month period to work through Lean Startup Methodology. Startups emerge with a dramatically improved business model and a network of people ready and willing to help them far into the future.

Core training, meetings, and events held in long weekend bootcamps, featuring hands-on training, expert-led lectures, peer collaboration, advisor office hours, and practice judging rounds. In addition, workshops cover strategy, innovation, marketing, sales, team-building, operating best practices, and fundraising. Teams then participate in a public showcase and rounds of competition to win equity-free funding.
