You're Invited: Senior Send Off Parade

Updated April 20, 2021

To the Members of the Faculty and Staff:

I want to share an exciting opportunity to celebrate and support our undergraduate graduates as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.

On April 29, 2021 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm all graduating seniors will be invited in their cap and gown to the athletic fields, where they will be lined up single-file, six feet apart to participate in a “Senior Send Off Parade” through campus.

We ask that available faculty, staff, and students physically distance outside their respective buildings on campus during this time. A parade route will guide graduates around campus, led by the drumline. The campus community will cheer, clap, and make noise to celebrate and recognize the graduates. The parade will end back at the Pine Grove with space to disperse the graduates with physical distancing in mind.

Congratulatory signs and noisemakers will be available for pick up in the University Events Office, located on the second floor of the Welcome Center beginning Monday, April 26, 2021. Please note all departments are allowed to create their own signage, decorations, in any manner they wish to cheer on our grads.

This is not a graduation or commencement ceremony. Commencement ceremonies will take place virtually on May 15 and May 16. This is an opportunity for our entire campus community to come together and congratulate our students on their accomplishments and wish them well. This is just one of the many events we have planned to honor, recognize and celebrate all of our graduates, across all degree levels, during Graduate Appreciation Week.

I encourage all faculty and staff to participate in this fun and celebratory event for our students. We heard directly from our graduates that they would appreciate the emotion that would come from such an event.

Please check the commencement website regularly. If you have any questions about this event or questions related to commencement please email Gina Lovotti at gina.lovotti@wne.edu

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

Bryan
