Updated COVID-19 testing plan

Updated August 20, 2020

All members of the University will be required to test for COVID-19 prior to the start of the semester. Testing is free and will be conducted by Health Services. Monitor University Posts for additional information regarding testing as it becomes available.

This testing is acting as a screening only. As we are all aware, COVID-19 testing is a snapshot in time and has decreased accuracy as we each continue our daily lives. The testing must be performed in a systematic way and with careful planning due to the size of our community. We have chosen the timing of the test as a way to have every community member tested as near to the start of the semester as possible, regardless of whether or not someone has been on campus over the summer. Everyone must continue to observe physical distancing and face covering requirements, both before and after they are tested.

Our plan for campus-wide testing has been provided to and accepted by the Massachusetts Department for Public Health.

Staff testing will be scheduled according to Vice President/Dean per Health Services August 13-14, 17-18, 2020. All testing will be done in Health Services. Staff who did not make the scheduled time will be provided an alternate time for “make-up” tests through the University Posts.

Faculty members will have access to a link for sign-up and will be able to schedule their own test time from August  31 to September 1, 2020. Faculty will be notified by their department head when the link becomes available. All testing will be done in Health Services. Faculty who do not make the scheduled time will be contacted by their Dean or Department Chair.

All students—commuter, residential, undergraduate, and graduate will be required to test. All students will enter the car line from the Welcome Center entrance only. Testing will be done in the lower parking lot and you will be directed by Campus Police to the testing area.

Residential students will be provided a schedule for their arrival from Residence Life and students must adhere to that time block. NO TEST—NO KEY.

Commuter Students may test any of the following days; August 26, 27, 28 (tip: this day will be the least busy), 29, and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. NO TEST—NO CLASS.
