Guidance regarding childcare issues

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have evaluated all options for providing support to employees with school aged children. I know from reading the many emails sent to me, employees are in need of solutions as school districts have unveiled their instructional plans for the fall.

The University has evaluated all possible options for supporting employees on this very challenging issue from both a risk management and practical perspective. Faculty cannot be approved to change a current on-ground course to hybrid because of childcare issues, but may work remotely on all non-instructional days. Administrators and staff may work remotely on days they can complete their work from home, and staff who hold jobs where remote work is not possible may request schedule changes. Both these options must be discussed and approved in advance by the employee’s supervisor.
