Update from Health Services

Updated March 23, 2020

Health Services is taking guidance from the Center for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Public Health.

Massachusetts Public Health is recommending that health care centers triage patients with specific symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) over the phone rather than providing a full evaluation on site, which is called Telemedicine. Health services staff are prepared to offer this off-site triage service but understand many patients may want a full evaluation so they may be reasonably reassured that they are not seriously ill. During these visits, illnesses like influenza, strep throat and mononucleosis can be ruled in, or out, by our clinical judgement and point of care testing. Physical examination can also lead clinicians to suspect/diagnose pneumonia, asthma, etc.

If you are a student/employee that believes they may have contracted COVID19, because you had direct contact with a confirmed case and have symptoms, we would ask you CALL 413-782-1211 before coming. Clinicians will provide guidance and then direct you on the procedure we have in place to minimize exposure in the reception area. When calling prepare to leave your name and phone number as clinicians are with patients and unable to come to the phone immediately. You will receive a return phone call within 15-30 minutes. Health Services has COVID-19 testing capabilities and will follow the guidelines from the CDC and DPH on testing criteria.

Health Services remains a walk-in no appointment needed health center.
