HEERF II Student Grant Awards

Updated March 31, 2021

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. The CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional financial need. Western New England received $1,342,302 in student grant aid. We are using Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) as the factor to distribute the student grant awards in order to comply with the Act. We are using the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) for the EFC.

Eligibility Requirement for HEERF II Student Grant Awards

Undergraduates (enrolled in six or more credits)

  • EFC from $0 - $5,711 receive $1,500
  • EFC from $5,712 - $9,999 receive $700

Graduate/Professional Students (enrolled in six or more credits)

  • EFC from $0 - $9,999 receives $700

Students enrolled in just the Spring 2021 term will receive half the award amount listed above.

Emails and text messages were sent by the University to eligible students. If you have any questions about this please contact Enrollment Services at 413-796-2080.

If you would like the student grant award applied to your current balance you can email billing@wne.edu to make that request. Applying this grant award to your current balance may assist in lifting a current hold or prohibiting future holds so that you may register for your Fall 2021 classes and/or receive a transcript or diploma.

Important News Regarding Future Grant Aid: The American Rescue Plan Act was approved and is providing a third round of funding, called HEERF III, for student grant aid. As more details are provided the University will work on a plan for distribution of this additional aid to students.
