Message Regarding COVID Vaccine for WNE Students
Updated May 24, 2021
Dear Golden Bears,
I am writing you today with an important COVID-19 update. The University is committed to reaching immunization levels that are accepted as providing herd immunity for the community. The purpose of required vaccinations extends beyond individual protection to all members of the University community to whom we have an obligation to keep safe as part of our social contract. All University students registering for fall 2021 classes will be required to provide proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccination dated two weeks prior to the start of classes before being allowed to move into residence halls or attend classes, even if their classes are remote/online. The University will work with late admits, arriving international students, and other students with special circumstances to secure vaccinations as necessary.
However, exceptions may be provided for medical and religious reasons. Exceptions for medical reasons will require documentation provided by a certified medical practitioner. Information about how, when, and where to provide proof of vaccination, request an exception and provide the documentation will be published to the University's website COVID-19 page no later than June 15.
Any questions about how to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations or about the information in this message may be directed to:
