COVID-19 Indoor Mask Policy

Updated September 3, 2021

To the Members of the University Community:

On August 8, 2021, we implemented an indoor mask mandate for all members of the University community, regardless of vaccination status. At that time, we made it clear that we would assess regional and national COVID-19 trends along with current guidance from the CDC and the MA Department of Public Health in order to inform our mask policy and other guidelines at the University.

We have decided to continue with our current indoor mask mandate for the remainder of the fall 2021 semester. This decision is informed by the COVID-19 infection rate in Hampden county and is consistent with CDC and MA Department of Public Health guidance. This policy is supported by the University’s Emergency Management Response Team (EMRT) and the COVID-19 Advisory Team, which consists of faculty and staff health and medical experts.

For more information, please refer to our Fall 2021 Risk Mitigation Plan.

As always, the University will continue to reserve the right to make adjustments to any of our guidelines, at any time, that support our core value to keep the members of our community safe. Just as was the case last year, we all must work together to not only protect ourselves, but to do what is in the best interest of our fellow Golden Bears.

I thank you for your hard work, dedication and for all that you are doing to comply with these important safety guidelines.

With gratitude,

Basil A. Stewart
