In addition to merit scholarships (which can be up to $21,000 per year), the Western New England University Leadership Grant will be awarded to a select number of matriculating, full-time freshmen for fall 2019 who have demonstrated their leadership abilities through prior high school and community experiences. The grant is for varying amounts up to $3,000 per year and will be renewed if the recipient participates in ongoing leadership activities at Western New England University. All leadership experiences, with the exception of athletic ability or participation, will be considered.
The Western New England University Leadership Grant is a highly selective award. We receive over 300 applications per year for the grant and a total of twenty are awarded to incoming freshmen.
Completed Leadership Grant applications (including the supporting materials noted below) must be submitted by Monday, February 11, 2019. Those submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
To submit an application for the Western New England University Leadership Grant:
- Complete and submit the Leadership Grant Application. To access the application you will be required to log in with the credientials you established at the time your application for admission was submitted. The Leadership Grant application is in the Forms section of the applicant student status page.
- Submit a summary of one leadership experience with your application. This should be submitted as a typewritten, double-spaced document (maximum of 150 words), explaining what you have learned from this experience.
- Submit one letter of reference from a non-family member who can speak to the quality of your participation in a leadership role.
