Western New England Exempt and Non-Exempt Staff Holiday Schedule Fiscal Year 2018-2019

  • Independence Day - Wednesday, July 4 Closed
  • Labor Day - Monday, September 3 Closed
  • Columbus Day - Monday, October 8 Closed
  • *Veterans Day Observed - Monday, November 12 Offices Open
  • Thanksgiving ** - Thursday, November 22 Closed
  • Christmas** - Tuesday, December 25 Closed
  • New Years -Tuesday, January 1 Closed
  • *Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Monday, January 21 Offices Open
  • *Presidents’ Day - Monday, February 18 Offices Open
  • Memorial Day - Monday, May 27 Closed

 *Veteran's Day (observed November 12, 2018), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 21, 2019) and Presidents’ Day (February 18, 2019) are considered “floating holidays”; they may be taken on the designated date or at another time, as arranged with the supervisor. Floating holidays must be taken in the calendar year in which they occur.

** During the 2018-2019 academic year, the President has determined that the University will be closed for the Thanksgiving Recess on November 21 and 23, and for the Winter Recess December 24, and 26 – 31. These days are in addition to the designated holidays of November 22, December 25, and January 1. 

The necessary activities of certain offices/departments may require them to remain open on holidays when the University is otherwise closed.  When this occurs, persons working in these areas will be given their Holidays as arranged with their supervisors.

How to apply as an internal applicant

As an existing employee of the University you may now view open staff and faculty positions and apply online at our new internal Cornerstone Career Site.  You will utilize your WNE email login credentials to enter the site.  The site link is https://wne.csod.com/samldefault.aspx

Once you enter the site you will hover over the tab Internal Job Postings and then click on Career Center. To view all position openings simply click on the SEARCH button. 

You will now be able to view the job ad and apply to the position as well as refer the positon to a friend, share it on Facebook or LinkedIn. 

If you are selected for an interview you will be contacted directly by the hiring manager to arrange an appointment

Western New England University Safety Committee

The mission of the Western New England University Safety Committee is to promote a safe and healthy learning and work environment, to engage employees to take an active interest in workplace safety and health, and to minimize accidents on University property.  The Safety Committee is charged with creating and sustaining employee interest and participation in having a safe and healthy environment.  Safety Committee members seek to hear your safety concerns and suggestions.

The mission of the Western New England University Wellness Committee is to establish and maintain a work-site culture that encourages social and environmental support for a healthy lifestyle. Our vision is to develop educational outreach activities that encourage faculty and staff well-being.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, as the University’s group health insurer, along with the Gaudreau Group, the University’s insurance adviser, will regularly attend meetings to offer advice through their collective Wellness program experience.
