The Western New England University chapter of Sigma Nu Tau National Honor Society welcomed Leah Cunha and Alexander Krawiec at the University's annual induction ceremony on April 25th in Sleith Hall Wood Auditorium.

Sigma Nu Tau is a national, academic honor society for Entrepreneurship majors who perform well academically, and possess the traits of honor, integrity, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Sigma Nu Tau's mission is to promote, recognize, and reward academic excellence in entrepreneurship and to encourage and recognize the practice of principled entrepreneurship.

Also inducted as Sigma Nu Tau Honorary Member was Richard Plaut in recognition of excellence, honor, integrity, the entrepreneurial spirit, and principled entrepreneurship.

In addition to the student inductees, Sigma Nu Tau also honored Richard Plaut as an Honorary Member in recognition of his excellence, honor, integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to principled entrepreneurship. Plaut, a valued member of River Valley Investors, has played a significant role in the Pioneer Valley ecosystem. As one of the founding mentors at Valley Venture Mentors, he has provided guidance to countless startups. He also co-founded Launch 413, an early-stage angel investment firm, and has actively participated in various entrepreneurship events and initiatives, including elevator pitches, student startup presentations, and the Product Innovations Showcase. Plaut's dedication to supporting entrepreneurs, particularly those from Western New England University, is highly commendable.

Sigma Nu Tau was founded in the spring of 2009 on the campus of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh to recognize the school's highest achieving entrepreneurship majors. Currently, the honor society is 46 chapters strong with more than 2800 members.

Schools must meet stringent requirements to operate a collegiate chapter of Sigma Nu Tau. Only accredited schools offering a baccalaureate or higher degree with a major, a concentration, a minor or study option in entrepreneurship or small business management are eligible to operate a Sigma Nu Tau chapter. Western New England University became a member on May 5, 2017.
