Study Abroad Photo Contest

The opportunity to both travel abroad can be a life-changing experience.

Purpose:  To visually highlight the educational experiences of students and faculty studying abroad, and to give them recognition of their exceptional photography.

Eligibility: Photographs taken by any student or faculty member while traveling, exploring, and studying internationally. Photos taken by international students studying at Western New England University are also eligible.

Each participant can submit up to 12 photos taken during any international learning experience between May 2014 and June 10, 2017, in any combination of the four categories.

Prizes for First, Second, and Third Place, and Honorable Mentions, will be awarded in the following four categories:     

  • Groups:  Group photos of five or more students and/or faculty.
  • Experiential Learning:  Students engaged in experiential learning.
  • Making Friends: Individual or small group photos with local people.
  • Anything Goes: Landscapes, still-life, architecture, local people. Use your imagination and be creative. 

Photos can be posed or candid. Selfies are welcome.

Prizes will include award certificates, $50 and $25 Amazon gift cards, t-shirts, flash drives, and other tchotchkes.

All entries must be submitted as digital files in medium to high resolution, at a minimum of 1MB in size. Do not send photos from your Instagram account, as they are low resolution. Send the originals please. Submit photos by 8:00 p.m. on June 14, 2017, to the Dropbox account at: https://www.dropbox.com/request/BFMjXtysCVD5eFhM7aue 

Along with your submission, you must submit one document that identifies all of your photos by photographer, country, location, year, and key people in the photo when possible.   

Example: Photo #1 by sophomore John Miller, Havana, Cuba, Steps of the President’s Palace, June 2017, Caption: John Miller and Jane Doe with the American Ambassador to Cuba.
