Members of the Golden Bear Community,
Today, November 11, is Veterans Day; the day this grateful nation honors and pays tribute to military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. As we think about those who have served in the defense of our country, I invite you to join me in giving thanks in your own way to the more than 19 million living veterans, past and present; nine million of whom are over the age of 65.
If you know of a veteran – a family member, friend, or acquaintance – consider reaching out to that person to offer your thanks and appreciation throughout the year but especially on Veterans Day. Eleven percent of veterans have experienced homelessness and half of those also live with a mental illness like PTSD. As we count our blessings for being able to live in this great country that we proudly call home, let us remember those who have helped make it so.
