  • The Impact of Giving on Academic Programs

Sustaining the high quality of Western New England University’s academic programs not only includes attracting and retaining the best students and faculty, it also requires providing comprehensive support for teaching and learning. This ranges from maintaining modern libraries and laboratories to keeping up with the latest technology needs. We want our students to have the opportunity to explore their innovative ideas and perform cutting-edge research.

  • The Impact of Giving on Student Aid

We are committed to making a Western New England University education available to all admitted students, regardless of their financial circumstances. A generous aid program helps us provide ease of mind, so that students will not be burdened by multiple part-time jobs during their academic studies and will have less in loans to pay back after graduation. Funding for undergraduate financial aid comes from endowed scholarship funds, annual giving, and other forms of current-use support. The availability of unrestricted funds makes it possible for Western New England to respond flexibly and promptly to increased financial need.

  • The Impact of Giving on our Faculty

Western New England University students benefit from a very low student-faculty ratio of 8 to 1. This makes it possible for them to learn from faculty members who are not only prominent scholars and researchers, but also dedicated teachers committed to working closely with students at all levels, from freshmen seminars to senior theses to graduate work. The ability to provide support for these exceptionally talented people and to recognize the most accomplished among them is crucial to recruiting and sustaining the very best faculty for the University.

  • The Impact of Giving on Student Life

The Western New England University experience includes residential facilities that promote vibrant communities, health services that keep students in top form, and extracurricular opportunities that encourage personal development, from athletics to cultural events to volunteer programs. In order to offer the best possible education, the University is constantly renewing and reinvigorating the elements that make it an inspiring place to live and learn.

  • The Impact of Giving on Western New England's campus

Gifts from alumni, family, and friends contribute in countless ways to Western New England University’s beautiful northeastern campus. Capital gifts fund buildings such as the Kevin S. Delbridge Welcome Center, The Flynn Family Golden Bear Pavilion, spaces within the Center for Sciences and Pharmacy, and renovations to Sleith Hall, to name a few. These modern settings for teaching, learning, and living, meet changing needs in education to prepare our graduates for a variety of careers. Unrestricted gifts permit allocation of funds for both upkeep and enhancement of all elements of the facilities department, from grounds and gardens to labs and libraries.

  • The Impact of Giving on the Budget

Donations to the University include gifts to the endowment, capital gifts, and gifts for current use, such as contributions to The Fund for Western New England University. Together, gifts and income generated by the endowment provided about 6% of the operating funds of the University this past year. While we would like to grow that number steadily, these funds do already make a significant difference in the programs and offerings we provide.

  • The Impact of Giving on the Endowment

An endowed fund is a permanent gift that is invested in the University's endowment for the long term to provide sustainable financial support for Western New England University. The gifted funds yield investment returns based on global market conditions and provide an annual payout of 5% to support the donor's designated use. This payout is determined by the spending policy of the Investment Committee. As the endowment grows, so does the availability of perpetual annual funds to be utilized by Western New England for priorities that keep the institution healthy now and well into the future.
